TOTAL SEAL ®

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

SURFACE PREPARATION
As with any and all coating systems, surface preparation is a major component of a successful application. A clean, dry and sound substrate is required.
1) Remove all loose and flaking paint if so required by power tool or hand tool ie. with a wire brush
2) Exterior use a high pressure water blast ( Minimum 3,000 psi ) using TSP on concrete, Chlor-Rid for salts or citrus cleaner \ etch wash primer on metal.
3) Interior wipe down the surface with soap and water to remove all dirt, oil, tar, grease, film or any other bond breaker. Rinse off any soap residue.

APPLICATOR SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
TOTAL SEAL ® is an environment-friendly product with a VOC of 3.5 pounds per gallon however Applicator must, at all times during use, wear a Bureau of Mines-approved, 2-stage (charcoal and cotton) paint spray respirator, designed for removal of organic vapors, or a fresh air-supplied type of respirator. Protective clothing and protective eyewear (goggles) are recommended.

MIXING
MIX IN CURING AGENT, THEN LET STAND FOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE USING. If this is for the first coat on bare concrete and masonry, add enough MEK to make this a 50/50 solution. This thinned solution will drive deep into the pores of the substrate. All other coats can be applied directly, after the thirty minute induction time without adding MEK.

POT LIFE
Eight hours at 70F degrees once base and curing agent have been mixed. Higher temperatures will shorten the pot life.

APPLICATION
TOTAL SEAL ® is user-friendly, in that it may be applied by a medium bristle brush, short nap roller, or airless sprayer with a .017 tip. However the preferred method of application is by roller. It is also preferred that the surface be completely dry before applying TOTAL SEAL ® however it can be applied to damp or moist substrates without fear of adhesion loss. On concrete and masonry, TOTAL SEAL ® is always applied in 3 coats. The first coat is diluted 50/50 with MEK and then applied to the substrate. Allow four hours to dry and ventilate well. Apply a full strength coat after four hours. Wait 24 hours and apply a second full strength coat. Fully cures in 14 days. If applying to aluminum pools, use a "wash primer" first to prep surface of metal before applying two undiluted coats of TOTAL SEAL ®. Application temperatures range from 40F \ 5C to 120F \ 49C. Please note that temperature will greatly effect pot life, recoat windows and cure times. NOTE: When used in exterior coating applications, #ME Series products will chalk and lose gloss.

SPREAD RATES
Total Seal is applied totally in three coats to concrete and masonry at 267 sf per coat for a net of 90 sf per gallon. Each coat is applied at 6 mils WFT = 3 mils DFT. A wet mil gauge is strongly recommended.

CLEAN UP
IMMEDIATELY UPON JOB COMPLETION, FLUSH UNIT AND LINES WITH SOLVENT (MEK) TO PROTECT FROM PRODUCT CURING INSIDE MACHINERY.
