About three years ago we bought a very nice house. We moved at the end of summer and did not realize that the first winter will bring us big surprise. One of our rooms was crazy cold. That room is far away from the furnace on the North side of the house and it has 3 outside walls and 2 windows. After first winter we replaced furnace and windows because they were very old and we thought they could be the cause why that room was so cold (at winter time air temperature in that room was only +3°C, but temperature in other rooms was +22 — +25°C). It helped a little bit – next winter the temp was +9°C. Still was not good enough. Next cause of this we thought – poor insulation into walls. But it is rather hard for us to replace it: plaster walls inside which you need to break and made new walls after; and wooden siding outside, which is hard to remove without breakage and hard to place back. What to do? We started looking for some ideas in the Internet. And finally one lucky day brought us the information about SUPERTHERM ®. It looked to good to be the truth.
We contacted the company to ask some questions what is this, how can we buy it, will it help us in our situation. Doug was very friendly and patient to answer all our questions. After some discussions we bought one pail of the coating, just to try. Doug gave us many advices how to make applications, what is better to do. For example layers of applications must be thin, to let it dry completely; we need paint only outside walls to stop conducting cold/hot temperature through walls to outside and back, but we do not need to paint interrior walls, as it will isolate rooms from each other. He also pointed our attention that we need to cover the ceiling as well. That was really new for us. So, last autumn we had got the coating and started renovation. We could do it only on weekends, so we had plenty of time between each application. We followed all instructions and advices. We made 3 applications on walls and 2 applications on the ceiling. After everything was completely dried we put paintable wall papers on walls. We did not decide what colour we want yet, so all our walls are still white. Now this room is our master bedroom, it keeps warm enough (+25 — +28°C). We are satisfied with the result; we plan to cover all our walls and ceiling on the main floor and walls of the basement step by step.
